I will be keeping you in my prayers and thoughts. I admire you for getting ahead of this disease.

Thanks April. I've seen enough people go through chemotherapy to know I'd like to avoid it if I can.

Hi Claire, I am an Aussie also, had single Masectomy and stayed flat, do wish I had them both off to be honest. The wait time for reconstruction in public is a few years, I am in Melbourne, I looked into it and decided against it, happy with decision and now have a prosthesis. FYI Medicare refund $400 per prosthesis every 2 years. Wishing you all the best with whatever decision you go with.

Thanks for the information Cheryl. I'm fortunate to be able to go private with the reconstruction, but I'm glad Medicare recognises prosthesis and refunds it.

Claire I’ve had lots of reconstructive surgeries, (mainly due to having an incompetent doctor deliver my first chid) so lots of scarring and a wonderful physiotherapist told me to use pure rosehip oil on my scars and amazingly it worked, even on the really bad scars from my caesarean/hysterectomy scar (15 years apart). My orthopaedic surgeon, who did my total hip and knee reconstructions was absolutely amazed at the almost invisible appearance of the scars at my monthly post operative appointments. Pure, organic Rosehip Plus oil retails at around $15.95 - $18. 95. I’m sure you’ll find one to suit, beware of it getting on your sheets, but I found that Sard Wondersoap is the only thing that shifts the stains and you need to give it a good, hot scrub. Hope it works for you. Regards Anne

Thanks Anne. I'll definitely check out pure rosehip oil. The other thing recommended to me was a silicone gel for scarring.
